Terms

Terms of service

Effective 1 July 2026. Eleven sections, no defined-terms appendix, and the important one is second.
01

The agreement

These terms are between you and Beacon Inc., a Delaware C corporation at 2261 Market Street, Suite 320, San Francisco, CA 94114. By creating an account or using Beacon you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to.

We have written these in plain English on purpose. A product built on clarity should not hide its own terms behind four thousand words.

02

Beacon does not fabricate qualifications

Beacon is software that reads a job post and your resume and tailors your application. It reorders, rephrases, and foregrounds what is relevant to the role. It does not invent an employer, a degree, a title, a certification, a metric, or a project you did not do.

Tailoring is produced by language models and the output should be reviewed by you before submission. You are responsible for the accuracy of any application you submit, including tailoring produced by Beacon. Do not use Beacon to misrepresent your qualifications to a potential employer.

03

Your account

  • You need an account, and the information on it must be accurate.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your credentials to yourself.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using your account.
04

Your content stays yours

Resumes and job posts you submit, and the tailored applications produced from them, are yours. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service: to process the text, send it to a model provider to produce your tailoring, and store the result for you.

We do not use your resumes to train models, we do not sell them, and we do not share them with anyone other than the model provider producing your tailoring. You can delete any application, or the whole account, at any time.

05

What you may not do

  • Use Beacon to create applications that misrepresent your qualifications, employment history, or credentials.
  • Use Beacon to break the law, or to process information you have no right to hold.
  • Resell or white-label the output as your own tailoring service without a written agreement with us.
  • Attempt to extract the prompts or scrape the service in bulk.
  • Upload malware, or deliberately try to break the service for other people.
06

Plans, payment, and cancelling

  • The free plan includes three tailored applications per calendar month, counted in UTC and reset on the first.
  • Seeker is $12 a month and Pro is $24 a month, in US dollars. Annual billing is ten months for twelve, charged once.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. We will not hide the cancel button, and we will not require a phone call.
  • Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep read access to applications you have already tailored.
  • If we raise prices, existing subscribers keep their price for at least 12 months and get 30 days' notice.
  • Refunds: if something we did stopped Beacon working for you, email us and we will refund the period. We would rather give the money back than argue.
07

Availability

We aim for Beacon to be available and we publish incidents on the status page. We do not offer a formal uptime guarantee at this stage of the company, and we would rather say so than promise one we have not built the redundancy to keep.

08

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Beacon is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or the outcome of a job application.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

09

Ending it

You can stop using Beacon and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where we reasonably can we will tell you why first and give you a chance to export your applications.

10

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts in San Francisco County, California. Both of us waive a jury trial. We have not included a mandatory arbitration provision, because we would rather not rely on one.

11

Changes

If we change these terms materially we will email account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Carrying on using Beacon after that means you accept the new version. This version is effective 1 July 2026.

Questions about any of this go to hello@beaconly.org and a person will answer. The care page has the plain version of how Beacon handles honesty and your data.
