Your data

Your resume and applications are yours

What Beacon stores, who can see it, and exactly how to export or delete it. No surprises.
01

What Beacon stores

When you create an account, Beacon stores your email address, your name, and the plan you are on. That is the account record.

When you run an application, Beacon stores the job post text and resume text you pasted, the fit score, the list of matches and gaps, the tailored resume, the cover letter, and the interview prep set. That is the application record. It is tied to your account and is not visible to anyone else.

Beacon does not store payment card details. Cards are handled by Stripe, which is PCI-compliant, and we receive only a token reference.

02

How your data is used

Your resume and job post are sent to a model provider to produce your tailoring, and for nothing else. The providers we use operate under agreements that prohibit using that traffic to train their models.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it to train anything. Your resume stays in your account and the tailoring is produced on demand.

We may use aggregate, anonymized information about how people use Beacon to improve the product, for example which steps take longest or which features people use most. Nothing in that analysis is tied to a specific person.

03

How to export your data

Every tailored application can be exported as a clean document from the application screen. The export includes the tailored resume, the cover letter and the interview prep set.

To export your full account data including all applications, go to Settings and choose Export my data. We will email you a file within one business day.

If you need a specific format or have a question about what the export contains, email privacy@beaconly.org and we will sort it out.

04

How to delete an application

Open any application from your dashboard and choose Delete from the application menu. This removes the job post text, the resume text, and the tailored output from our database. It cannot be undone.

Deleting an application does not affect your account or your other applications.

05

How to delete your account

Go to Settings and choose Delete my account. This removes your account record, all of your applications, and all of the data tied to your account from our database. The deletion runs immediately.

If you are on a paid plan, deleting your account ends the subscription. You will not be charged again, and you are not entitled to a refund for the current period under our terms. If you have a question about a refund in specific circumstances, email support@beaconly.org before deleting.

Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered.

06

What happens after deletion

Your data is removed from our active database immediately. Backups are retained for up to thirty days and then overwritten. Your data will not appear in any backup after thirty days from deletion.

If we are required by law to retain a specific record, we will tell you. This is rare and would not affect your resume or your applications.

Questions about data handling can be sent to privacy@beaconly.org. The Privacy page explains the full picture.
